Bridges and Tunnels

Bridges

BBCEL has considerable expertise in constructing a wide variety of structures, many of which require great engineering skill and proven management prowess.

Our experience of structures include multi-spans, slim line superstructure, skewed angle construction, externally stressed cantilevers, slender-walled, multi-celled prestressed concrete box structures and continually post-tensioned construction

Achieving such notable success in bridge construction depends on the sequencing of work and management of the varied processes adopted for individual projects. For example, temporary works are a fundamental and important part of the structures work that we undertake, while our expertise in falework enables us to meet all the challenges posed in the construction of unique and complex structures.

Potential hazards such as working within operational sites or alongside live sites, heavily trafficked roads and rail lines can compound the problems of completing structural work in restricted areas and pose real engineering challenges.

The skills in overcoming such obstacles and managing the intricate and difficult construction phases of a project are as much a challenge as the construction work itself. We pride ourselves on our ability to achieve this effective resource and time management seamlessly to guarantee the timely delivery of our client's schemes.

Tunnels

BBCEL’s experience in tunnelling and the construction of underground caverns has earned it an industry-wide reputation for excellence extending over 90 years.

We have been involved in the whole range of geotechnical conditions from hard rock to soft ground for the construction of shafts, tunnels and caverns for metro and mainline railway tunnels, road tunnels, sewer tunnels, water supply, hydro schemes and utility services.

We have a large core of personnel with an extensive command of tunnel plant, logistics and personnel management. This team has demonstrated its ability by excavating up to 41 major tunnel faces simultaneously.
