In 2006, Birse Nuclear undertook the refurbishment of a water pumping station for BNG Sellafield. This was a multidiscipline scheme involving:

Multidiscipline design/engineering
Refurbishment of electrical supply/control
Modernisation of instrumentation/control systems
Minor civil works
Pumps/ancillaries purchasing
Mechanical installation
Commissioning & testing
Complete project management
Optimisation of new pumps/hydraulics

The key issue was to ensure, at all stages, that the flow of water to the Sellafield site was not compromised - this was achieved through planning, design and effective risk management.
