This £35 million turn key engineering and construction contract for a Waste to Energy plant was awarded to a consortium of Balfour Beatty and Kvaerner.
The contract embraced the design, construction, installation and commissioning of this new high technology facility.
The new Waste to Energy plant will replace an existing incinerator at the site and is designed to incinerate 120,000 tonnes of waste per annum.
The plant will consume 2.2MW for in-house load and will export 8.3MW to the grid. The 10.5MW being produced by a single steam turbine generator.
