Surrey SATRO Festival
Surrey SATRO aims to help young people in schools and colleges to discover what the world of work is all about - to enthuse them about the opportunities and help them to realise their potential.
Surrey SATRO has existed for more than 20 years as a charity which brings together educational establishments and business. It provides a vital link by facilitating relationships and by developing and running programmes within schools that enhance young people's understanding of business, science and technology.
The Festival of Science & Engineering is held annually with Surrey schools exhibiting their projects and competing against each other to be recognised for their achievements.
How did the A3 Project Team get involved? The Festival features a Working World Marquee, which is designed to give context to subjects taught in the classroom. By exhibiting in the marquee, and providing a range of personnel to answer the students' myriad of questions and concerns, the students are given an insight into a career in civil engineering and the opportunities available.
