Our Health Safety Policy, which provides the framework and principles to which we work is distributed to all employees.

We are committed to the prevention of work related ill-health and injury, and we recognise that it is a business necessity to ensure the occupational health and safety of anyone who may be affected by our activities.

We are committed to improving our health and safety performance, and to achieve this we have an established yet progressive health and safety management system which is based upon the principles of planning, implementing, monitoring and review, and which actively involves our employees, subcontractors and partners in developing, promoting and sustaining a positive health and safety culture.

We ensure a consistently high standard of health and safety through planned internal and external audits of all of our activities. We are accredited to OHSAS 18001 "Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems" and also within numerous industry sector accreditation schemes including Network Rail, Highways Agency, Public Utilities and Local Authorities.

Our commitment to Health and Safety is reflected in an accident frequency rate which is significantly lower than the industry average and which continues to show a downward trend. This has been recognised by numerous bodies including RoSPA, who have awarded us their Gold Award for Occupational Health and Safety, and the British Safety Council who for 23 years have presented us with their International Safety Award.
