Customer perspective on our capability

Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering and Balfour Beatty Infrastructure Services jointly achieved a very good score of 187 in Highways Agency's (HA) rigorous capability assessment toolkit (CAT).

HA were expecting companies which scored well in the previous CAT2 to score 140-160 this time. Our result - 25% above the target - was the top result of all suppliers evaluated in this CAT3 exercise.

The strengths of our business observed by HA's CAT assessors include:

  • "Both businesses have clear and focused strategies with absolute clarity on the future projects they want to win and a detailed understanding of what will be required to be successful"
  • "They are strongly customer focused at all levels, particularly in customer relationship management and their comprehension of customers' needs"
  • "They are collaborative in their approach, carefully selecting strategic partners for long term mutual benefit and ‘best fit' supply chains through advanced selection and relationship management models"
  • "A clear focus on maintaining an outstanding Health and Safety record pervades the whole organisation and there is attention to good environmental practices"
  • "There is an emphasis on developing people to fulfil their potential aligned to the business needs"
This is an excellent endorsement of our efforts to improve the performance of our business across all its functional areas
