Shoreditch High Street Bridge successfully installed
08 April 2008
Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering's, East London Line Scheme has negotiated a significant milestone with the successful lifting into place of the Shoreditch High Street Bridge.
Placed into its final position on the morning of Saturday 29th March, the 300 tonne bowstring arch bridge superstructure had been assembled inside the site just off Bishopsgate next to Shoreditch High Street.
It was lifted into place, after a successful road closure, using a Gottwald Crane, oneof the largest mobiles in the UK.
This is the first of three major bridge installations over the next couple of months, the next two being GE19 bridge slide and New Cross Gate which will be driven into position. Both events are scheduled for early May.Related
