A421 Receives Green Light

A421Balfour Beatty Major Civil Engineering's A421 ECI project team, has received confirmation from the Highways Agency that the improvement scheme can proceed to the start of the construction phase on the 28 October 2008.

The Scheme will dual the A421 trunk road from the M1 at Junction 13, east to the A6 at Kempston, a distance of 13km.

The scheme will be of great benefit to both the travelling public and locals alike. Once completed congestion in the area will be greatly improved. The road will also be much safer, saving a predicted 553 personal injury accidents over 60 years.

Ecological works have already begun by agreement with the landowners and temporary site accommodation is already established. Work can now start on the main compound and erecting boundary fences. Main construction will be underway very quickly.
