Southern Region wins Managed Motorway Project on the M4

Balfour Beatty Regional Civil Engineering's, Southern Region has been awarded the project to install Controlled Motorway technology on the M4, between Junction 23 and 28 in South Wales.

The contract for the Welsh Assembly Government, includes the detailed design and construction of 32 MS4 variable message signs, five new super span gantries and the refurbishment of 13 existing gantries, together with the associated triple package technology equipment.
The scheme will enable the implementation of mandatory variable speed limits on each lane, introducing active traffic management in order to reduce congestion and improve safety on one of the busiest sections of motorway in Wales.
