The A46 Improvements Team add another trophy to their growing collection at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) Awards on 2nd December.

The team was presented with the sought after Gold Award for Outstanding In-House Public Relations Team at a glittering ceremony at Birmingham's Hilton Metropole.

The A46 team fought back strong competition from fellow finalists; North East Derbyshire Council, East Midlands Airport, Heart of England NHS Trust, PDSA and the British Heart Foundation to become the first of BBMCE's major schemes to be awarded that coveted accolade.

The CIPR judging panel was impressed by the A46 team's wide range of initiatives including the creation of a free-helpline, and the production of residents newsletters and parish council bulletins. The team also coordinated drop-in sessions at local libraries and site visits for councils, community groups, schools and civil engineering students.

The judges also highlighted the team's strong commitment to local community support, including the creation of an ecology pond for a local school, tree donations, the entering of a team into the village charity bike ride and the team's donation towards the cost of restoring a village's church bells.

The panel commented: "The team has proactively and successfully liaised with local stakeholders and promoted a positive image of the construction industry. An extraordinary achievement for such a small team."
